Whyalla residents say NO to Lowly Peninsula port.

Sara Bradbury has live in Whyalla all her life “If a port was put out here I think that would be a bad thing for Whyalla residents because we have a really nice area out here, a recreational area for swimming” she said the proposed port “would have a huge effect on the cuttlefish, the cuttlefish can only breed once in their lives and they could possibly be endangered – I am very, very worried
Whyalla resident Fred Pidden says the Rann Government’s proposed port is “a very short sighted view” whilst resident Gary Andrew says it is all one sided without other options being considered to the detriment of Whyalla “, it’s going to pollute the environment and the next best beach is probably 100 kilometres away” he said.
Sarah Bradbury “Very worried” about the proposed port.

Biologist and teacher, Linda Cheeseman says she can't under stand why the government would want to have a desalination plant and port on the Lowly Peninsula “. The thing that people forget is that Australia is the oldest continent in the world and what that means is that the nutrient levels in this area are completely unique” she said “The species have adapted to low nutrient levels. What this means is that any change to these nutrient levels means they are highly susceptible to being destroyed."
Biologist Linda Cheeseman says unique species would be destroyed by the development.
