Murray River Protest at Swan Reach

Community Protest for the Murray at Swan Reach in South Australia. Wednesday 19th August 2009. Channel 7 Adelaide News report. A contingent of Whyalla residents were sent by the Save Point Lowly group to show support as Whyalla is dependent on water from the Murray River. The Save Point Lowly group is actively supporting the building of a wind powered desalination plant at Eliston on the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula whilst opposing the building of a desalination plant by BHP Billiton on the Point Lowly Peninsula which will cause environmental damage to the Giant Australian Cuttlefish and local fishing as well as degrading Whyalla's recreation and tourist area.
