Tom Cheesman is excited to have joined the Save Point Lowly group in July 2009.
Tom has 14 years experience working in the Federal Public Service on many important Social Policy issues. Tom had stints working in Youth Affairs, Employment, Centrelink and Family & Community Services. Born in Whyalla, Tom recently returned from working in Canberra for the past 10 years. While in Canberra, Tom worked on nine-consecutive Federal Budgets as a System Analyst, including stints a manager of Centrelink’s funding model.
Tom is a keen sportsman, mainly Tennis and AFL. Tom is a qualified Personal Trainer, Tennis Coach and AFL Sports Trainer. Tom recently decided on a sea-change and career change into the sports administration side of things so he could play more of a hands-on role in helping people.
Tom is passionate about science & the environment, personal development & wellness, and artistic / creative pursuits. Tom is a vocal advocate for social responsibility, informed debate and decisions being based on robust and verifiable evidence – after all those years working on Federal Budgets including many heated discussions with the Department of Finance, you can hardly blame him!
Fun fact: - One of Tom’s middle names is SPENCER. Whilst this choice was inspired by Winston Churchill (Spencer was also his middle name), there is an obvious irony that Tom has come back to Whyalla to help save his namesake and Point Lowly.
Tom can be contacted by email: tom@savepointlowly.com.au
