Access to proposed Port Bonython bulk ore handling facility requires a new 17Km railline with a transit time of 15 minutes.

The alternative southern port, Malaquana bulk ore handling facility requires a new 35Km railine with a transit time of 27 minutes (12 minutes longer).

However, the southern port option offers reliable deep water in excess of 20 metres with a width of 6km offering mooring for numerous cape size vessels without impeding either the current Santos or One Steel shipping.

Southern Port option has a future

The southern port offers considerable scope for expansion and whilst it is a more expensive option in the short term, it offers a port with a future, one we can pass on to our children and grandchildren.

Our children are the big winners with the Southern Port

It retains the Point Lowly penninsula is pristine condition which we can pass on to our children.

There is also the scope in the future to relocate Santos and One Steel exports to this port, giving us the option of rehabilitating degraded sections of the top of the gulf for future generations to enjoy.
